Description
ORIGIN OF CASCADE CYMBIDIUM
The botanical ancestors of the Cascade Cymbidium we cultivate originally grow on dead trees and cliffs at altitudes of 1,500 to 2,200 meters in the regions of Taiwan, Vietnam, and China.
CARE TIPS
Unlike most other orchids, the Cymbidium needs a little more water and should be treated like other plants in green pots.
Moist soil is good; however, the roots should never be in a puddle of water.
PLACEMENT
Place the Cymbidium in a bright spot in the room or orangery.
The ideal temperature is between 13 and 20ºC.
The temperature of your room may be higher.
This is not a problem, but the plant will lose its flowering faster.
At 13 degrees, the plant can flower for 10 weeks.
However, at a temperature of 23 degrees, the flowering period will not exceed 3 weeks.
Try to avoid placing the plant above a heater or in a warm space.
FLOWERING
Natural flowering of the Cascade Cymbidium occurs once a year.
It is not difficult to achieve this, but there are some essential rules to follow:
• If the plant has lost its flowering, look for a cooler place in your home, with plenty of light, and give less water. The plant can also be placed outdoors but should be brought back inside with frost.
• After 12 weeks, the plant should be moved to a warmer place with enough water as before. Fertilizers can be added regularly at this stage.
• If you have the possibility, place the plant outdoors in spring and summer.
Do not place them in direct sunlight, but choose a place where there is enough light.
Pay attention: keep the soil moist.
You can also choose to place the plant with the pot in the soil, so that the plant soil does not dry out.
• When the outside temperature drops below 10ºC in autumn, bring the plant back inside.
