Description

The Rlc. Krawnprapa is a stunning intergeneric hybrid orchid resulting from the cross between Rhyncholaeliocattleya Pratumma and Rhyncholaeliocattleya Mem. Boon Klong. This plant combines the vigor and beauty of its parentage, providing an exotic and colorful flowering that adds a touch of sophistication to any environment.

Origin and Background of Rlc. Krawnprapa:

  • Created in 2013 by P. Donchanda, the Rlc. Krawnprapa is a relatively recent hybrid orchid in the horticultural world.
  • Its parents, Rhyncholaeliocattleya Pratumma and Rhyncholaeliocattleya Mem. Boon Klong, have ancestry from various species of Cattleya, Laelia, and Rhyncholaelia, contributing to its genetic richness and unique floral characteristics.

Characteristics of Rlc. Krawnprapa:

  • Size: The plant can reach up to 30 cm in height, with small pseudobulbs and long, thin, vibrant green leaves.
  • Flowers: The flowers, arranged in erect clusters, are the highlight of Rlc. Krawnprapa. They feature delicate and pointed petals in a combination of colors that can vary between white, pink, purple, and even intricate brown stripes. The lip, in contrast, is usually white with brown stripes and a touch of yellow in the throat.
  • Flowering: Rlc. Krawnprapa has the potential to bloom throughout the year, providing continuous floral displays with vibrant and delicate colors.
  • Fragrance: The perfume of Rlc. Krawnprapa is soft and floral, reminiscent of vanilla with citrus notes.

Symbolism of Rlc. Krawnprapa:

  • Delicate beauty: The small and ornate flowers of Rlc. Krawnprapa symbolize the delicate beauty of nature and the importance of appreciating the small details.
  • Adaptability and resilience: Being a hybrid plant, Rlc. Krawnprapa represents adaptability and the ability to reinvent itself, combining characteristics from different species.
  • Perfume and harmony: The gentle and pleasant aroma of the flower evokes tranquility, harmony, and balance.

Care for Rlc. Krawnprapa:

  • Light: Prefers bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods as it can burn the leaves. Filtered light near east-facing windows or diffused light in well-lit environments is ideal.
  • Irrigation: Keep the substrate moist, but not waterlogged. Water the plant when the substrate is almost dry to the touch, using warm water.
  • Fertilization: During the growing season, provide a balanced fertilizer diluted in water every two weeks. Reduce the frequency of fertilization in autumn and winter.
  • Temperature: The ideal temperature ranges between 15°C and 24°C. Avoid extreme temperatures as they can affect flowering.
  • Humidity: Rlc. Krawnprapa appreciates moderate humidity (about 60-70%). Use a humidifier or place the pot on a tray with water and pebbles to increase air humidity.
  • Substrate: Use a lightweight and well-draining substrate, such as a mixture of pine bark and sphagnum.
  • Repotting: Repot the orchid every two or three years or when the pot becomes overcrowded, using a pot with good drainage and suitable substrate.

Tips for Success with Rlc. Krawnprapa:

  • Provide adequate support for the plant, as its pseudobulbs tend to grow vertically.
  • Carefully observe the plant for signs of pests or diseases and treat them promptly.
  • Avoid exposing the plant to cold drafts.
